• Construction of the spars: mast, boom, and gaff yard. Mast made of four pieces of spruce glued against the grain to ensure straightness, and laminated with strips of Spanish cedar. Gaff and boom jaws, mast partner and mast base ring made of ash or oak; and making of their respective leather sheaths.

• Manufacture of deck hardware in ash, beech, and oak: cleats, fairleads, pulleys, deadeyes, and mast rings. The latter are made from steam-turned ash strips.
